Charity and Giving

An article in Time titled 'Person of the Year' compares and contrasts the Humaniatarian efforts of Bono and Bill Gates. With adversities like Katrina, the Tsunami disaster and the AIDs epidemic, the article suggests that there is no one size fits all. Different parts of the world need different types of efforts.Bono suggests that one must act carefully and come up with a unique strategy for each of these major problems.

This article also suggests that most of the Humanitarian giants work more out of passion than out of kindness.Passion is more proactive and is a stronger weapon against global problems. I am reminded of Vivekanada's words that we must thank the beggar on the road as he has given us an opportunity to serve.
