One of the most ingenious, entertaining and brilliant slasher flicks from the maestro of horror, Wes Craven. It is not just the sudden twists and shock treatment that keeps us glued to the screen. Teaming with screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, Carven does not waste a moment to tell us what he is doing differently in this slasher flick.
I'll never forget the absolutely riveting first scene when Drew Barimore is discussing slasher flicks with a crank caller. She jokes that all these movies are cliched in that they have a babe killed in the first scene, a babe who can't act.

The whole movie is based on what we already know about such flickes. It is a black comedy that makes fun of movies like itself! Neve Cambell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette are all superb. Cox especially plays a sleazy journalist who tries to capitalize on the murders, trying to establish herself.
