This classic starring Antony Quinn, Lawrence Oliver and John Gielgud is based on a book by Morris West. It's theme has a common thread with current happenings in the Vatican. It is the heartwarming tale of a former Siberian prisoner(Quinn) who becomes a priest and makes a confession that he stole bread. He is surprized to discover that this confession has got him elected as the Pope. He reluctantly accepts the position and is faced with the crisis of world hunger. The story and the real footage of the Vatican makes this movie a 'must see'. It isa movie well beyond its years. Thumbs up from me!
