A cheating wife(Frances McDormand), her lover(John Getz), her jealous husband (Dan Hedaya), and a fiendish private eye(M. Emmett Walsh) are all parts of this suspenseful, gory tale.
A bar owner in Texas hires a detecive to murder his wife and her lover. Walsh, defies his natural gentle demeanor to masterfully play a wicked detective. The bar owner would realize the hard way that this move is not just dangerous to the lovers,but to himself.
What happens then?
Directed by the Cohen brothers, this film has become a yardstick for Film Noire.One of my favorite scenes is when a corpse rises from the 'In the tradition of Blood Simple...', has been a mantra used by critics like Roger Ebert to describe other macarbe movies with twisted plots.This was Frances McDormand's first movie.
