Hearth & Kettle

The Hearth and Kettle restaurant in Weymouth, MA is a typical New English Inn known for its breakfasts and dinners. I decided I'd try it out on a Saturday at around noon.

Well, the decor was OK with wooden panels, and the seating area is a combination of booths and tables. The restaurant itself was a little dark for my taste. My choice of breakfast was the steak and cheese omelet and blueberry pankakes. The latter was an add-on and cost me about $1.80 more. It turned out to be the best part of the meal.

What did I think about the rest of the experience? Well, the waitress was friendly and asked if I'd return. The seating was quick, but then the place was not that crowded.

Let's talk about the breakfast. Yes, I did mention that the pancakes were good. The omlette was good, but I'd had better. The prices: well, way too expensive. The portions were adequate for my apetite but then, I could have had as good or a better breakfast elsewhere. Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed.

Caswells Seafood Weymouth

This is a hidden jewel in Weymouth, and is literally hidden from view as one drives on Route 53. One has to carefully look for the yellow sign that says 'Casewells Sea Food'. The service is good and the servers are friendly. The seating is on the upper level and in summer can get pretty hot. The seating or the decor is not much to write home about, but the food is another story.

Some favor the steak and cheese but I like the seafood. If you are trying to avoid fried fare, this may not be the place for you.

However, the seafood is exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. Usually, I order the the fish plate or the clam plate and get one of their homemade Lime Rickey which is delicious though a little to sweet.

Quan's Kitchen Weymouth

Yes, the main restaurant is in North Attleboro.
But for residents of Weymouth and Quincy who want a quick dinner, without the bother of tipping a waiter, the takeout place on Route 53 is a good substitute. The decor, considering that this is just a takeout place is good. The service is friendly.

My favorite dish are the Schezwan Imperial and which I usually order with Teriaki beef, Crab Rangoon or baked dumplings(Peking Ravioli)

Someday, I'll pay the headquarters a visit.

Jimmy's Diner

I tried Jimmy's in Weymouth today for a late brunch. The decor looks nicer on the inside and the seating arrangement is reasonably sized. It caters to a set of regulars, who seemed to know the waitresses by first name.

For a change, I decided to try Pancake and Fruits. I was blown away. The pancake was among the best I've had, soft and fluffy. Add strawberries and syrup and it was a winner. Well, I'll drop by there again.
