Generes: Action, Foreign
Chinese with English Subtitles.
Director Ringo Lam's City on Fire is one of the many masterpieces of Hong Kong action movies. Its car chases and gunfights are almost on par with the French Connection. Action superstar Chow Yun Fat plays a cop fighting to balance his life as a boyfriend and an undercover cop. He has to deal with his own guilt for exposing a criminal after winning the latter's trust.
He goes underover and joins a band of ruthless gangsters. Then comes the grand finale of the movie where all of them, killers and undercover cop are stranded in a shack. This scene lasted 15 minutes and inspired the genius in Quentin Tarantino to create Reservoir dogs.It has the famous 'Mexican standoff' that Tarantino used in two of his movies.
The version I saw had bad subtitles but I have heard that this re-released by Disney is better.
